What is Smart home automation?
With the Internet of things (IoT), Smart homes in these day and age are filled with connected products are loaded with possibilities to make our lives easier, more convenient, and more comfortable.
With new innovative products such as Google Home and Amazon Echo, smart home automation in IoT has come a long way. Smart Home is a home system based on the Internet of things, where home appliances, sensors and services can be connected through the communication network, and can be remote access monitoring and control. The Internet of things is a gateway into smart home automation that connects to cables, wireless home network service standards, the management of household appliances, sensors and external systems and business communications. |
Smart home vs smart buildings: What is the difference?
A smart home is focused on the single home context, where devices and appliances in your home integrate they and communicate with each other.
It has less technical equipment than a smart building, and in a smart building efficiency is much more important. A smart home is more likely to be fully ‘digital’ and remotely controllable via the Internet. Smart home technology is kind of a precursor of what is coming to smart buildings, what is happening in smart homes now will eventually follow in smart buildings. A smart building is any structure that uses automated processes to automatically control the building's operations including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, communication, security and other systems. IoT devices in commercial buildings or residential homes enable a variety of applications and provide benefits related to automation, convenience and energy efficiency — these benefits will resonate among building managers, homeowners, tenants, and even renters |
Will the Schonell App or Interphone work with
other smart home automation or smart IoT devices?
Schonell Interphone is a smart building equipment used in smart residential and commercial buildings; it that facilitates accessibility, security and communication while saving costs.
While many smart home automation hardware devices in this day and age are able to integrate with each other using third party equipment or apps, these may impose fundamental security risks. Smart home systems can leave owners vulnerable to serious threats, such as arson, blackmail, theft and extortion. For instance, if equipment is integrated with third party apps, smart lock apps integrated to CCTV's would allow hackers to remotely turn off video feed, while granting physical access to the front door after residents have left. There are countless security flaws in such a system, and little research has focused on what happens when these devices are integrated into a coordinated system. Major Problems with integration equipment with third party apps: 1. Overprivileged Smartphone apps 2. Design flaws with poor hardware integration 3. lack of passwords and encryption Schonell uses a proprietary app and IoT software on our servers to manage our hardware and user's security, and while it would complement other smart home devices and apps, no direct integration with third party smart home apps would be possible at this point in time. This is primarily due to the countless possible security flaws in this new industry that could compromise our user's safety and security, For example, as a tenant of a building, we wouldn’t mind giving smart home technologies remote access to my window shades, lightings, or air conditioning. But we would be wary of staking my safety on remotely controlled door locks, fire alarms, and communication devices, as these are security and safety critical devices. If misused, abused or hacked, those systems could lead to loss of property or even physical harm. |
